一個愛國者的「知識分子論」:以陳映真的醫生書寫為線索/趙剛(126民112.12 頁1-59)
陳映真文學裡對「醫生」這一身分的愛恨交加,是建立在他對於歷史的深刻凝視。他如何看待作為一種特定知識分子的「醫生」群體,與他對日本殖民以及戰後白色恐怖的歷史的理解有密切的關係。醫生,是陳映真用以檢視知識分子狀態的一個常用進路,不但用以批評知識分子的下沉,也用來挖掘知識分子的精神與道德資源。本文特別分析了陳映真如何以「有德醫生」為力量源泉,作為他自己掙脫文革所帶來的精神危機。在以上的基礎上,本文討論了知識分子的信仰與知識、基督教與社會主義、愛國主義、世界主義與第三世界之間的理論與價值張力,試圖初步建立陳映真的一種知識分子論。

Medical doctor is a key category by which Chen Ying-zhen understood intellectuals and intellectual condition in history, especially in Taiwan’s colonial period and subsequently the era of “white terror”. Medical doctors reflected well both the downward and upward movements of the intellectuals in Taiwan. This paper examines how Chen treated the medical doctors with either Christian faith or patriot-socialist belief as his self-redemptive resources to recover from the spiritual crisis as encountering the dark side of the Cultural Revolution. Based on the discussion above, the core of this paper is to outline the contours of Chen’s “theoretical” understanding of the intellectual stratum of the third world.

八○年代的身體轉向與其不可翻譯性:王墨林與黎煥雄的劇場實踐/汪俊彥(126民112.12 頁61-99)
1980年代前後,臺灣現代劇場重新以「身體」作為關注與方法,提出了一系列小劇場、行為藝術等的表演,形式上顯著區別了前一階段的話劇演出。這一波對於身體的關注,可以更早從七○年代的雲門舞集成立所形塑的現代中國人身體中觀察。帶有強烈國族主義色彩的身體展演,是所謂「回歸現實」世代的重要表徵,也影響了八○年代的劇場身體轉向。本文透過翻譯研究,觀察王墨林與黎煥雄分別於《海盜版.我的鄉愁我的歌》以及河左岸劇團「迷走地圖系列」劇場作品所呈現出的身體,就所謂「不可翻譯性」,重新介入現代性翻譯建制中對於主體與自我的認識,以時間與空間的批判性理解,對兩位劇場實驗者的國族臺灣,提出一種新的可能性解釋。

Using the lens of translation studies, this article examines the concept of the body in the 1980s Taiwan theater through their plays, director Wang Molin’s Pirated: My Nostalgia, My Songs, and Li Huan-hsiung’s series of Map of Maze. With regards to the idea of the untranslatable, this article re-examines the problematic of the subject and the self in the regime of the translation. In so doing, it aims to provide a critical reading of nationalist Taiwan. Both directors mark a new period of theatrical aesthetics by exhibiting a new performance style that differs from the spoken drama of the old. Their works also signify a bodily turn in post-war Taiwan theater performances.

戰後台灣觀光業發展的美國因素/郭彥伯(126民112.12 頁101-141)
二次大戰結束後,美軍在一系列的任務引領下來到台灣,並隨著美國在亞洲的軍事部署而增減。美軍在各地觀光遊憩與性產業的密切關係,成為當時或後世最受矚目的議題之一。此議題最普遍流傳的詮釋,是將性觀光產業的發展視為地主國為了迎合美軍/美國而例外特許的制度安排,類似說法往往也體現在關於戰後台灣觀光產業的研究當中。本文聚焦戰後台灣觀光產業發展中的「美國因素」,重新檢視最常被提及的R&R計畫及其影響,挑戰過去認為觀光業在60 年代後蓬勃發展,很大部分來自於R&R計畫的施行。本文不僅指出,美軍的休閒空間自戰後初期美軍開始來台後便以廣泛存在,同時也帶出越戰期間大量不屬於R&R的在台美軍,如何貢獻了相關產業發展。在觀光政策的美國影響部分,亦強調美國從爭取援助的對象、反共宣傳的盟友,到關鍵資金的提供者的角色轉變。透過分析更長時段、多重形式的美軍性消費空間發展與變化,以及觀光業發展過程中所受到的美國影響,更複雜化地理解美國的軍事部署和國際援助,如何與在地的民間、制度和產業發展交互作用。

After World War II, a series of missions led U.S. forces to Taiwan, which expanded or shrunk with the deployment of the U.S. military in Asia. The close relationship between the U.S. military’s tourism and the sex industry has become one of the most controversial issues since then. The most common interpretation of this issue is to read the development of the sex tourism industry as an exceptional arrangement to cater to the U.S. by the host administration, which discourse often reflects in the studies of tourism in postwar Taiwan. This paper focuses on the “U.S. factors” in the development of postwar Taiwan’s tourism industry by re-examining the R&R program and its influence. It challenges the discourse that the vigorous development of the tourism industry after the 1960s was largely due to the implementation of the R&R program. The leisure space for the U.S. military has been widely existed since the early postwar period. Many U.S. troops in Taiwan during the Vietnam War that did not belong to R&R also contributed to the development of related industries. On the U.S. influence of Taiwan’s tourism development, this paper also points out the role of the U.S. has shifted from a target of request for aid, an ally of anti-communist propaganda, to a provider of critical funds. By analyzing the long-term spatial development and changes in the multiform of U.S. military sex consumption as well as U.S. influence on the development of the tourism industry, this paper brings out the complexity of understanding how the deployment of the U.S. military and the international aid interact with the local civil, institutional, and industrial development.

歸納法與發展視野:安士敦對台灣及其他地區的研究/瞿宛文(126民112.12 頁143-172)
本文探討安士敦(Alice H. Amsden)如何發展她的經濟發展理論,評價她的貢獻,並以她對台灣的研究為例。她正是從台灣開啟了她此方面的研究,先調查研究了台灣的工具機產業,然後逐步擴大涵蓋範圍,包括與筆者合作研究台灣如何升級進入高科技產業。她並沒有運用通行的靜態演繹法,而是採用歸納法,從個體微觀層次到國家模式,再擴大到區域與整體後進國。依據這方法及後進發展視野,她從後進國的發展歷程中推導出有價值的經驗教訓,並據此修正了既有的理論。她的貢獻至今仍有現實意義,並應可適用於中國大陸。

This paper explores how Alice H. Amsden developed her theory and evaluates her contributions, using the case of her work on Taiwan, where she began her quest for understanding late development. On Taiwan, she first studied its machine tool industry, and gradually broadened the scope, including a collaborative work with the author on Taiwan’s upgrading into high-tech. Contrary to the prevalent static deductive method, Amsden used an inductive approach based on studies of country models, which in turn are based on micro-level studies. By adopting this method along with a development perspective, she was able to induce valuable lessons from latecomer experiences and modify existing theories accordingly. Her works hence are still relevant today and arguably applicable to contemporary China as well.
